The Anambra State Police Command, working with Adamawa State Police, arrested a 43-year-old woman, Uche Okoye, for child trafficking. Eleven children (5 boys, 6 girls, aged 3–6) were rescued in Nnewi on July 15, 2025.
The kids were abducted from Adamawa and sold in Anambra as “adoptions”—boys for ₦1.5 million, girls for ₦800,000. The children have been handed over to Adamawa Police for reunification with their families.
Anambra’s Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Uche Orutugu, praised the operation and warned the public against illegal adoptions. The suspect is helping police track down more syndicate members.
This is part of CP Orutugu’s crackdown on crimes like trafficking, kidnapping, and cultism.
