SDP Denies El-Rufai’s Suspension, Cites Falsehoods

The Kaduna State chapter of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has vehemently refuted claims that former Governor Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has been suspended or expelled from the party. In an official statement released by State Publicity Secretary Hon. Darius Kurah on Monday, the SDP dismissed the reports as false and politically motivated attempts to destabilize the party.
Kurah specifically discredited a statement attributed to one Araba Rufus Aiyenigba, falsely presented as the party’s National Publicity Secretary, clarifying that Ambassador Judith Shua’ibu holds that position. He emphasized that the party’s disciplinary procedures, which include querying and summoning members before a committee, were not followed. El-Rufai has not been subjected to any such process.
The SDP also debunked rumors of El-Rufai undermining the party, calling the accusations “baseless and unsubstantiated.” The party labelled the reports as “cheap propaganda” by unnamed individuals collaborating with APC loyalists to create internal strife ahead of the 2027 general elections. The Kaduna SDP urged the public to disregard the “fake news.”
