Sowore to Protest NYSC’s Withholding of Corps Member’s Certificate

Human rights activist and 2023 presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has called for a protest against the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for allegedly withholding the discharge certificate of corps member Rita Uguamaye, also known as Raye. The protest is scheduled for Tuesday.
Uguamaye, a content creator, had previously posted a video in March criticizing President Tinubu and the federal government’s economic policies, describing the president as a “terrible leader.” She also criticized the NYSC scheme.
Following her remarks, which drew mixed reactions, Uguamaye apologized and clarified her comments about Lagos.
Sowore stated on Arise Television that there is a direct connection between Uguamaye’s comments and the NYSC’s decision to withhold her certificate. He also addressed claims that she failed to complete her mandatory clearance, asserting that she has evidence proving the NYSC refused to process her clearance attempts. Sowore urged Nigerians to join the protest in support of the corps member.
