Lagos politics has been thrown into mourning again as Mrs. Adebimpe Akintola, the Council Manager of Coker Aguda LCDA, was confirmed dead on Monday, September 29, after a brief illness, per Vanguard.
Akintola, who also served as Chairman of the Forum of Council Managers in the state, was described as a diligent administrator before her sudden death.
Her colleagues announced the news in a statement on Monday evening, saying her passing came as a huge blow.
She is to be buried on Tuesday, September 30, in line with Islamic rites, with prayers scheduled at Al Kitab Mosque, Eleshin, and interment at Equitable CDA Muslim Cemetery, Igbe Lara.
The development has thrown the entire council into grief, with staff members seen in shock over the incident.
This is the fifth female local government officialřð to die in Lagos within just two months. Before Akintola, the state had lost Oluwakemi Rufai, a councillor in Ibeju Lekki; Zainab Shotayo, councillor in Odiolowo-Ojuwoye LCDA; Princess Oluremi Ajose, Vice Chairman of Badagry West LCDA; and Basirat Mayabikan, councillor in Somolu.
Reacting on Tuesday, Lagos APC spokesman Seye Oladejo described Akintola’s passing as “another sad incident” and praised her commitment to grassroots governance.
