Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic, Ijebu-Igbo, has received fresh approval from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) for several academic programmes. The Board granted full accreditation to selected courses and also cleared the polytechnic to begin new ones.
This update follows an assessment visit carried out by NBTE from 3 to 6 November 2025.
Programmes Granted Full Accreditation
NBTE confirmed full accreditation for the following programmes, valid for a five-year period:
- Higher National Diploma in Science Laboratory Technology, Microbiology option
- National Diploma and Higher National Diploma in Business Administration
- Higher National Diploma in Urban and Regional Planning
The approval came after checks on facilities, teaching staff, learning resources, and academic records.
Newly Approved Programmes
The Board also gave approval for the polytechnic to start new programmes at both ND and HND levels:
- ND Public Administration
- HND Strategic Communication and Media Studies
- HND Film and Multimedia Production
- HND Marketing
- HND Networking and Cloud Computing
- HND Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology, Power and Machines option
- HND Science Laboratory Technology, Chemistry option
- HND Computer Engineering Technology
These additions cover areas such as technology, applied sciences, management, media, and creative studies.
NBTE Reminder on Accreditation
NBTE reminded the polytechnic to invite the Board for full accreditation of the newly approved programmes when due. Failure to do so within the given time frame may lead to loss of approval to admit students into those courses.
The Board explained that its accreditation process includes inspection of classrooms, laboratories, libraries, equipment, staff records, and teaching materials. The November 2025 team reviewed buildings, staff strength, equipment quality, and academic procedures.
Reaction From the Rector
The Rector, Engr. Mobolaji Onasanya, thanked NBTE for its confidence in the polytechnic. He praised staff members for their steady effort in meeting required standards.
He said the approvals reflect the school’s focus on sound teaching and practical learning. Students, he added, will gain from classroom lessons combined with hands-on training that mirrors real work settings.
What This Means for Students
The newly accredited and approved programmes are expected to draw more applicants in current and future admission rounds. The expansion also supports the polytechnic’s plan to offer a wider range of courses while keeping quality teaching and learning in focus.
