Ruslan Obiang Nsue, a son of Equatorial Guinea’s president, has been convicted for illegally selling a state-owned plane. The former director of the national airline, Ceiba Intercontinental, was sentenced to six years in prison.
He can avoid incarceration if he pays approximately $255,000 in compensation to the airline, along with additional fines and damages. The case against him was initiated in 2023 by his half-brother, Vice-President Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue. The court acquitted Obiang Nsue on separate charges of embezzlement and abuse of office.
