Another student of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), Joy Adeyemi, has been murdered by her boyfriend, sparking outrage among students. The Department of Human Kinetics undergraduate was reported missing earlier this week before her body was found in her boyfriend’s locked room after neighbors detected a foul odor. Reports indicate she was stabbed to death on Tuesday, and the suspect, a local resident, fled with money from her POS business.
This comes less than three weeks after two AAUA students were brutally killed. The latest incident triggered protests, with students demanding government intervention to end the recurring violence. The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) issued a 24-hour ultimatum for authorities to arrest the perpetrators and enhance campus security, threatening nationwide protests if their demands are unmet.
Police confirmed three suspects have been arrested, with efforts ongoing to apprehend others. AAUA’s spokesperson urged students to remain calm and allow investigations to proceed. The repeated killings have raised concerns about student safety, with calls for urgent action to prevent further tragedies.
