Keymaster::Hey everyone,
The wait is almost over! DJI has officially dropped a teaser for a new product, and the “All in One” tagline combined with the unmistakable dual-lens silhouette leaves absolutely no doubt: they are launching a 360-degree camera. The teaser explicitly states the launch date is **July 31st**.
This is huge news for the 360 camera market, which has been dominated by Insta360 for years. The new camera, widely rumored to be called the **DJI Osmo 360**, seems to be taking direct aim at the Insta360 X5. Based on a ton of leaks and a hands-on video that accidentally went live, here’s a verified rundown of what we can expect:
* **Launch Date:** July 31st, 2025.
* **Sensor:** The marketing is a bit tricky here. While it’s advertised as having “1-inch 360 imaging,” the fine print and leaks clarify that this refers to the combined imaging area of the two sensors, which are actually a new square design. The effective imaging area is equivalent to a 1-inch sensor, which should still lead to fantastic image quality, especially in low light.
* **Video:** It’s confirmed to support 8K video at 30fps. It also features 10-bit D-Log M color, which is a major advantage for creators who want more flexibility in post-production.
* **Design:** The Osmo 360 has a more rectangular, GoPro Max-style design, a departure from the “stick-like” form factor of the Insta360 X series. It’s also rumored to be about 10% lighter than the Insta360 X5.
* **Ecosystem Integration:** As expected from DJI, the camera will integrate seamlessly with their ecosystem. This includes magnetic mounts, DJI Mic support (specifically the new DJI Mic 3), and features like HorizonSteady 360 stabilization.
* **Price:** Leaked Australian pricing suggests the standard combo will be around AU$759, which translates to roughly $500-550 USD. This positions it very competitively against the Insta360 X5.One of the biggest questions is how DJI’s software will stack up. Insta360 has a reputation for powerful and intuitive editing tools, and that’s a key part of the 360 experience. It’ll be interesting to see if DJI’s new editing suite can rival it.
This is a very exciting time for 360 content creation. The competition is heating up, and that’s great for all of us. What are your thoughts? Are you planning to pre-order one, or will you stick with what you know?
