Afrobeats legend Iyanya is back, and this time he’s teaming up with rising star Fido for a heartfelt new single, “Sorry.” Released under TripleM-G and co-produced by Ubi Franklin and Mikaba Beatz, the mid-tempo anthem arrives as the lead single from Iyanya’s forthcoming album, The Forester’s Son, dropping September 19, 2025.
“Sorry” is a rich blend of Afrobeats rhythms and contemporary R&B tones, layering smooth percussion, melodic undertones, and soulful harmonies that elevate its story of love, regret, and reconciliation. At its core, the song is a confession, a heartfelt plea to mend what’s been broken. Iyanya’s signature vocals deliver the weight of experience, while Fido brings a fresh, dynamic energy that injects modern Afro-fusion into the mix. The result is a track that feels both nostalgic and forward-looking, universal in its message yet distinct in its artistry.
For Iyanya, the track sets the tone for The Forester’s Son, an album that promises to reflect his heritage, maturity, and evolution since the days of genre-defining hits like “Kukere.” It’s a statement that he’s still shaping the sound of Afrobeats while diving deeper into personal storytelling. For Fido, “Sorry” is another stepping stone after his breakout with “Awolowo” and debut EP Olayemi, proving his ability to hold his own alongside one of the industry’s veterans.
Together, the collaboration is more than just a duet—it’s a meeting of two generations of Afrobeats, showcasing the genre’s depth, resilience, and ability to continuously reinvent itself.
“‘Sorry’ captures everything Afrobeats does best—rhythm, soul, and a story that resonates beyond borders.
