Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is set to become the only top striker at Galatasaray, as Argentine striker Mauro Icardi is expected to leave the club at the end of the season, Soccernet.ng reports.
Icardi was previously the main man at Galatasaray following his €10 million move from PSG in 2023.
However, since Osimhen joined the club two years ago, the 33-year-old forward has had to take a backseat. Osimhen has become the poster boy for the Cimbom, which is understandable given his age, quality, price tag, and salary.

Recognizing his quality, coach Okan Buruk has maintained faith in him and provided significant playing time. This season, Icardi has featured in 37 games, contributing 15 goals and two assists.
However, with his contract set to expire at the end of the campaign, the former Inter Milan star appears ready to leave Istanbul. Galatasaray are not looking to extend his deal. According to Yeni Acik, Icardi is likely heading for a return to Italy.
How Will Icardi’s Exit Affect Victor Osimhen?

If Icardi had not been consistently reliable in front of goal, the fans might have placed more scrutiny on Osimhen, especially during periods when the team struggled.
With the Argentine leaving, Galatasaray currently lack another equally reliable goalscorer in the squad.
This means Osimhen will likely have to play more matches and will be expected to carry the bulk of the offensive load.

Nonetheless, Osimhen possesses the quality to lead the line and should be able to deliver consistently for the Cimbom.
