NERD explains how to verify the clearance slip

Nigeria Education Repository and Databank, NERD, has issued a circular on the verification of the NERD Clearance Slip.

The notice addresses false messages being shared among students. NERD said some students were told to return to their schools for verification or stamping of the clearance slip; the agency said that claim is false.

    NERD clearance slip verification method

NERD stated that the approved way to verify the clearance slip is through the barcode on the slip.

Once the barcode is scanned, the student’s details will appear automatically. If the details shown match the student’s records, then the clearance is valid.

What students should check after scanning

Students are expected to compare the displayed details with their own information.

If the details are correct and belong to the student, the slip stands as valid. If the details are wrong, or the record belongs to another student, the student is expected to contact NERD Support at once.

What to do if the barcode does not scan

NERD also gave a clear step for barcode issues.

If the barcode fails to scan, the student should contact NERD Support for help. That is the route given in the notice; there is no instruction to return to the school for stamping.

    NERD support contact

Students facing problems can reach NERD Support through these phone numbers:

    Message to students

NERD advised students to ignore any message asking them to return to their schools for stamping or physical verification of the clearance slip.

The circular states that stamping or physical verification at the school is not part of the approved process. Students are also asked to depend only on NERD communication channels for correct and current updates.
