The All Progressives Congress (APC) has chosen a new national chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda.
Chairman of the Progressive Governors and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodima, raised the motion to appoint the Humanitarian minister as Chairman and was seconded by Speaker, House of Representatives, Abba Tajudeen
He was selected on Thursday at the ongoing APC NEC meeting in Abuja.
He was immediately sworn in.
In his acceptance remark, Prof. Yilwatda said, “My pledge, without hesitation, is that I will work with everybody in the party, I will unite the party, I will build the party, and I will expand the party.”
Before his new appointment, Professor Yilwatda was the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and was once a university lecturer.
He is from Plateau State and was the APC’s candidate for governor in the 2023 elections.
His selection follows an agreement reached during a late-night meeting in Abuja between President Bola Tinubu and APC governors.
56–year–old Yilwatda is from Plateau State and was the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate in the state during the 2023 general elections.
