Sa’adu Zungur University (SAZU) Temporary Closure Notice for Students

The Sa’adu Zungur University (SAZU) is closing for a short time after a clear order from the state government. This notice helps students and staff understand what the temporary closure means, which staff still work, and how everyone can stay safe and ready for the next update from the University Management.

Sa’adu Zungur University is part of the group of learning centres affected by this state-wide decision, so the whole campus will pause normal work for now.

Government directive leading to the closure

The temporary closure follows a formal memo from the office of the Commissioner, Ministry of Higher Education and Regional Integration.

Key points from this memo are:

    • The memo is dated 24/11/2025.
    • It carries the directive of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of the state.
    • It orders the temporary closure of all learning institutions in the state.

In line with this, the University Management has agreed that Sa’adu Zungur University will close for a while.

What the University Management has approved

The University Management has approved that:

    • The university is temporarily closed with effect from today.
    • The decision follows the clear directive from the state government.
    • The closure covers normal academic work for staff and students.

This means lectures, tests, and other on-campus academic activities stop during this period.

    Key information for SAZU students

Students of SAZU should note the following points:

    • There will be no normal classes on campus while the closure stands.
    • The break is temporary, so students should stay calm and keep their study materials safe.
    • The earlier resumption date in the 2025/2026 Academic Calendar is now postponed.

Students can use this time to read at home, keep in touch with course mates by phone or online, and prepare for classes when a new resumption date is given.

    Guidance for staff members

Not all staff have the same role during this period:

    • Staff who provide essential services are expected to keep working when their services are needed.
    • These staff may be called on demand to support key needs of the university.
    • Other staff should follow any clear instructions from the University Management and their direct supervisors.

This helps the university keep basic work going while still respecting the state directive.

    Resumption and academic calendar update

The earlier resumption date in the 2025/2026 Academic Calendar is now postponed. A new date will come later through an official notice from the University Management.

Students and staff of SAZU are encouraged to stay calm, follow this guidance, and wait for clear future updates from the state government and the university.
